Tips on Locationary Geo Missions
Tips on Locationary Geo Missions
I noticed that the Geo Mission page comes out randomly (it's not consistent) from time to time and the automatic geo coding process also not consistent. The automatic geo coding process sometimes works and sometimes not.
Due to the above reasons, I immediately save a Geo Mission page if ever I had a chance to encounter one. In Firefox browser, just click "File" from the menu and then click "Save Page As...". Be sure to save the complete webpage.
This way everytime you login back to Locationary, you can just open the saved Geo Mission webpage and work manually the places without geo codes. Usually these places has some typos in the address that's why Locationary's system has a hard time geo coding it.
Good luck and enjoy the rewards of geo coding places.

More information about Locationary
More information about Locationary posted by its founder Grant Ritchie in Locationary.com website.
"Locationary is the new global place directory. We call it The World's Place Database (TM). If Facebook is the new 21st century White Pages (where every person has a profile page), then Locationary is the new 21st century Yellow Pages where every place has a profile page. We're going to offer businesses and others a Universal Profile(TM) and we will distribute their information to every search engine, mobile device, and website.
There are two aspects about Locationary that make this project revolutionary:
* Firstly, our database will be distributed for free. We'll provide our data in raw, database form and permit everyone to freely use the data even for commercial websites and mobile apps.
* Secondly, Locationary uses an unique crowd-sourced system to seed the data. In an online gold-rush, our members are financially rewarded for being the first to add a place. Our members also receive valuable benefits for keeping the data current and accurate.
Locationary was needed because information on local places is scattered across the Internet in different formats within proprietary databases or in paper directories. As a result, search engines and mobile devices cannot easily find information on local places. Businesses spend $31 billion globally to get their businesses listed, and then $20 billion more is spent by Internet companies and marketers to buy this data. There is currently no open system that everyone can use. We’re creating the new open standard for local data: local search websites, mobile application developers, and everyone else will be able to download and use the collected data.
We will encourage businesses to add detailed information on their products and services, promotions / coupons, events, and job postings. Homeowners and landlords will be able to add their real estate and rental listings. Every place in the world will have a profile page that can be enhanced with as much data as the owner desires. Locationary is business friendly too; place owners who have claimed their listings will maintain full control over their content.
A central, open system where businesses and others can update their information once for global distribution will result in an explosion of innovative websites and local search applications that will spring up to use the free data. People everywhere will benefit by being able to instantly locate and accurately compare everything in their cities and around the world. We offer a road map to a world where mobile devices know everything that’s going on around you. Become a member of the project that's changing the world! Join now and Add a place."

About Locationary
This article is from Locationary.com authored by its founder Grant Ritchie. This is about Locationary.
"Hi! My name is Grant and I'm the founder of Locationary. I want to tell you a true story about how, almost 30 years ago, a few companies in the United States took advantage of a legal loophole to create a billion dollar industry and why there's now an opportunity for you to make money because of it.
This story is really about a battle for what I refer to as "the world's most valuable data"' -- the information about every business in the world. It's incredibly valuable because if you control this information, you control how people buy and sell. You control which businesses are shown to customers and you influence where people buy the products they need. As an added bonus, when you have all this information, others buy it from you.
For the last 126 years, this information was controlled by the yellowpages industry and they made a fortune every year. Last year, local businesses spent nearly $30 billion to advertise. Another $20 billion was spent to buy business data. It's a vast sum of money; enough to make millionaires of 50,000 people every year. However, in 1982, something changed that would affect how this information would be used on the Internet almost 30 years later.
In the United States, this information was once controlled by AT&T, the massive telecom company. It owned the yellowpages directories across most of the country and had information on practically every business in the U.S. However, in response to unfair competition, the U.S. Government broke AT&T apart into several smaller companies. As a result, nobody had the full information anymore. But like with everything, someone's problem became an opportunity for others.
A few new companies figured out how to collect the full information again by taking advantage of a legal loophole. Normally, you can't copy another's information or content. People get sued for pirating music and movies, or photocopying books. However, the law didn't protect books of "facts". As a result, these new companies were legally allowed to copy the yellowpages directories (about 5200 in North America) and there was nothing AT&T or anyone else could do to stop them.
So fast-forward to today. Those directory copiers are now "the big three": Acxiom, Localeze and InfoUSA. They are huge companies that you've probably never heard of that sell this business data to everyone including Google Maps, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, Yelp, and Yellowpages.com. I uncovered the big three when I was researching how Google Maps gets its information. I learned that the Internet companies keep buying this data because they need the full set of U.S. business information. Unfortunately, the data they're buying still mainly comes from the copied yellowpage directories. It's many months and even years old and not suitable for the 'real-time' nature of the Internet. We now live in a hyper-speed world where last week is ancient history. To solve this problem, Locationary created a new technology to supply everyone with instant business information on every place in the world. It's revolutionary because our patent-pending technology rewards locals for accurate contributions. There's no other system in the world like it.
It's simple, really. Locals around the world know what's happening in their communities faster than anyone else. If a new business opens, or one goes out of business, they know first. If the phone number is wrong, or the location is inaccurate, they know how to fix it. Locationary's data is becoming the most accurate and recent because it's updated and verified by locals in over 90 countries. Each day over 30,000 places are updated by our members. By participating, you'll be a member of the new system that will supply the global business information for the Internet age.
Here's how it works: by adding new places to Locationary and by fixing inaccuracies, you'll earn tickets which you can enter into draws for cash prizes. You'll also share in 50% of the revenue that Locationary receives from the places you update. Imagine being paid whenever someone uses a coupon, buys a product, or finds a job in your city. Everything is tracked automatically and instantly deposited into your Locationary account or paid out to Paypal. Best of all, it's completely free to participate!
Add places, share your local knowledge, and get paid. Join Locationary and help us change the world, one community at a time."
Hope you now get an idea on what is Locationary. If you're interested to join Locationary, you can click the link below.
